Simply put, you want to push out any air left inside the bottle and any glue stuck in the nozzle, this way the nozzle will be cleared, you can wipe away what is pushed out and close the cap onto your bottle, leaving it clean and fresh. Not doing this means that any air and glue in the nozzle can burp into the lid, sticking the lid and nozzle together, rendering the bottle useless.

Step 4: Take the clean cap and replace the old one.
